ALL-STAR COMMITMENT LETTER
Congratulations on your player's All-Star nomination! In order to build the strongest possible team to represent Gig Harbor Little League, we want to make sure that you have a full understanding of the All-Star commitment. It is as follows:
Players are expected to attend (be at, or participate in) regular practices (possibly daily) and pre-game functions.
Players are expected at all games. We will not be able to give you an exact game schedule because it depends on the bracket the team is in (whether they win or lose). We will not be sure of the ending date of All-Stars because that is also dependent on whether they win or lose.
Little League All-Stars must come first. Other sports, tournaments, and camps must not interfere with the commitment to be available for the All-Star team. All-Star managers may request that no other organized sports be played during the All-Star season.
If your child is going to miss more than 4 practices and/or any games a petition for exemption may be brought before the GHLL board for consideration. Under no circumstances may managers or coaches grant exemptions.
The only guarantee of playing time is the minimum. Every player on a team roster must participate in each game for a minimum of three (3) consecutive defensive outs and bat at least one (1) time.
If your ballplayer makes the All-Star team, there will be some financial costs involved. We are doing our best to keep costs down, but you will have to pay for your child's hat and jersey, which they keep. Sometimes teams order All-Star jackets as well so that could be an additional expense to you. We ask that you pay for the hat and jersey by the first practice.
Each family with a child playing All-Stars will need to be available for 4-6 hours of volunteer work at the tournaments that GHLL will be hosting. These duties will include announcing, scorekeeping and grounds keeping. The schedule will be developed once the tournament brackets are set.
The following documents need to be turned in by the first practice, if your child makes the All-Star team. These documents will be kept in a notebook until the All-Star season ends. Please plan ahead!
