GHLL Volunteer Board Meeting Agenda 1/4/07

Bill Glover gave a briefing on the current status of GHLL and how close we are to the beginning of the season. Everyone should move to smaller groups to get any last minute things done.

 

Old Business



·        Brian Horton spoke about Umpire Training. Scheduled Saturday March 17th. Reimbursement for Umpires shirts for those completing training cost is $25. Executive Board will vote on this at next meeting.

 

·        Curt Morford spoke about first year Managers Meeting. Possibly doing it after each leagues draft. Manager selection will be completed on January 28th and communicated first week of February.

 

·        Roy Kaldestad gave a briefing on the current status of the Hatteberg Clinic (January 27th). This week an email went out to all past and present volunteers. Sign ups: Six for session 2, eleven for session 1.

Parkland Chevrolet (Doug Grant) has sponsored the t-shirts



Needs: tables& chairs (Curt Carlson),
Buckets…
Water…(Costco-Kaldestad).
Volunteers needed to hand out t-shirts.
5 Jugs backstops (5 people volunteered)
Set up and clean up volunteers

 

Training session will be at Sean Scanlan’s cage week prior.

 

·        Tom Taylor gave a briefing for “Pitch in for Baseball”.
He recommended that GHLL not participate this year.

 

 

New Business

·        Bill Glover gave a briefing on registration.
100 new kids since last meeting.
AA-15 Manager Candidates
AAA- 10 Manager Candidates
Majors- 22 Manager Candidates
Jr. – 4 Managers

 

 

·        Maurice Hanks spoke about tryouts.
NEEDS:
Pitching machine need (Weymiller & Werner)
L Screen, Balls
Groups:
6 & 7 year olds will be together
8 & 9 yrs olds together
10’s will be by themselves
11 & 12 together

 

 

·        Bill Glover said we will be advertising next week for a group to run our Snack Shack.

 

 

·        Terri Koberstein gave briefing on Breakfast at Chapel Hill (Deposit $500 to use facility plus $2 a person). Four hour minimum, cost related to amount of chairs to put up and down. Last year we spent $1040 and brought in $1500.
*Terri will be checking on if we can sell merchandise at Chapel Hill

 

 

·        Sean Hanon said sponsorships are going very well and mailing invoices for 2007 next week.  Sean will also check into sign in downtown Gig Harbor to announce golf tourney.

 

 

·        Brian Villa announced that the Sunday March 4 after meet your Manager we will have another work day party.  Purpose is to hang netting and finish fields for season.

 

 

·        Dave Koberstein asked about adding bleachers to our fields and this was added to the field “wish list”.

 

 

·        Joe Guinn mentioned  a possible fundraiser with a  Les Schwab van  using radar gun and giving kids a chance to measure their throwing velocity.  He will try to secure for tryouts.
