GHLL VOLUNTEER BOARD MEETING

Meeting Minutes
10/5/06

Opening:

Bill Glover presided over the monthly meeting of the GHLL Board on October 5, 2006, at 1905, at Ray Nash Firehouse. Bill Glover gave the opening remarks followed by introductions.

Present:

Bill Glover, Cy A. Oatridge, Curt Morford, Brian Villa, Robert Young, Joe Guinn, Ron Brentin, Rick Nordi, Tom Taylor, Lou Hassan, Tiffany Bestwick, Deana Fanning, Debbie Selby, Shawn Hanon, Dave & Terri Koberstein, Kurt Carlson, Bob Werner, Gary Gallinger, Maurice Hanks, David Kilcup.

A.        Previous Meeting Minutes

Bill updated the Volunteer Board of the last meeting notes and changes that were made.

B.        Old Business

  1. Bill gave a presentation on voting rights for Executive Board and Volunteer Board. The GHLL Executive Board will vote on all Financial (Capital Projects), Discipline and Rule Changes. The Executive Board will listen to those Members that have a passion for certain topics. The Volunteer Board will vote on all other topics.
  2. Bill went through each position on the 2007 Org. Chart and their responsibilities.
  3. Debbie Selby gave a presentation on the Junior LL Tournament.
  4. Report on GHLL fields by Brian Villa on changes to fields in 2006:
    Fixed holes, bumps, warning tracks, replaced sprinkler heads 10 to 15 times, hydro-seeded, rotor tilled, sprayed blackberries, mowing fertilized, sand and seeded needed areas, and kept fence lines and infields weed free.
    Currently raccoons are doing some damage to the fields.
     
    $85, 482. Has been spent year-to-date on fields not including donations done to the fields.
  5. A discussion followed about the Junior LL fee increase.
  6. Bill presented Current Calendar:
     Registration: one time November 9 or 16th and online. Location Gig Harbor City Hall (6p-8p). Kurt Carlson suggested combining Scott Hatteberg Clinic with late Registration.
     
    Parents meeting: discussion followed of changes to the event for the upcoming year. Bill tabled to next meeting.

    Tryouts: February 10th   Make-up the 17th   Location still to be decided…

    Breakfast: Date: March 3rd

    Opening Ceremony:  March 23rd

    Photo-Day: March 24th at City Park

    Tryouts: for Junior/Seniors: March 10th

    Golf Tournament: May 4th
  7. Breakfast: Terri Koberstein spoke about the breakfast. In 2006 we spent $1000 and brought in $1700. Discussion tabled to next meeting
  8. Snack Shack: Ron Brentin spoke on past and present situation of snack shack.  $6000 was brought in on Junior Tournament. GHLL pays all expenses and will share 50% of all profits with the new organization.
  9. Fund Raising for New Fields: Bill spoke about different opportunities for all to think about and new ideas to come up with to the next meeting.
  10. Fund Raising Ideas: Shawn Hanon is currently working on signing up sponsors for next season. Spoke a little about scholarships

    Baseball Swap-selling used baseball equipment that families no longer use.  Possibility at breakfast. Belts, Gloves, Pants, Shoes, Bats
  11. T-Ball: Joe Guinn spoke about new t-ball program for next season. More discussion to follow at next meeting
